Goalkeeper Training

Hale Hockey Club has a rich history of playing and developing some of the State’s best goalkeepers, including current and recent Kookaburra players. Last season also saw six of our junior keepers selected for State representation. The Club invests heavily in its junior goalkeepers, and technical training for junior keepers will run on Monday evenings at 5.15pm, commencing on Monday 26th February. These fun but challenging goalkeeper training sessions will be run by Andrea Reinhart, the club’s Premership Ladies 1st team goalkeeper, and Jason Vuletich, the State Country Men’s Team goalkeeper. New keepers, or players who want to give goalkeeping a try are very welcome, and this year we are particularly keen to encourage Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 girls to give it a go. Suitable protective equipment will be provided by the Club.

Goalkeeper trials and selection will be run at the training sessions on 11 March and 18 March (there will no training on 4 March due to the WA Labor Day weekend). These sessions will be used to grade Year 7/8, Year 9/10 and Year 11/12 goalkeepers for their teams and all prospective keepers should attend. The Club has a particularly strong representation of boys keepers this year.

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Hale Hockey Club Members and Supporters,

Welcome to the much-anticipated 2024 season! As we embark on this exciting year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the triumphs of recent years and look to the promising future that lies ahead.

We are thrilled to kick off the season on the heels of a historic Premiership victory by our Premier 1 Boys—a remarkable achievement that marks our return to glory after 13 years. The resilience, skill, and dedication demonstrated by our boys have not only brought pride to our club but have also set a high standard for excellence that we aspire to maintain throughout the season.

We must not forget the incredible success of our women's team in 2022, which has laid significant foundations for the future. The momentum from their triumph continues to inspire our players, coaches, and supporters as we strive for excellence on and off the field.

Our junior club is burgeoning with huge numbers of boys and girls at many levels. Its important that junior players, no matter their level, enjoy their sport and we are forecasting some record numbers in different age groups for 2024. The continued increase in numbers is testament to the success of our junior programs.

Our lower grade senior and vets teams continue to represent us with aplomb – both on and off the pitch. While overall our Mens vets numbers are decreasing, we have an increasing number of vets age players choosing to continue to play competitively in senior hockey. Our Womens vets program has excellent numbers, particularly midweek where our 1s team return to the Rae Blunt Pennant.

Behind every successful club are the hardworking and passionate volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to make it all possible. A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for your unwavering commitment. You are the heartbeat of Hale Hockey Club, and we are immensely grateful for your continued support.

Looking ahead, the 2024 season promises to be very exciting on and off the pitch. We are pleased to announce a significant development—the installation of a new turf at the end of the season. This state-of-the-art facility will not only enhance our playing experience but will also provide us with new opportunities for growth and development.

To make this project a reality, we will be launching fundraising initiatives throughout the season. We encourage all members and supporters to contribute to this vital cause, ensuring the continued success and growth of Hale Hockey Club.

Here's to a season of camaraderie, achievement, and, most importantly, the pursuit of our collective passion for the game.

Let the season begin!

''Burgeoning'' . . . just goes to show, one is never too old to learn new words! 😉 You rock Mr. President! 👍

Thanks so much Belinda for pointing out that my husband forgot to put his name to the message he sent. He is forgetting a few things lately but at least he remembered to go to the Hockey Club Busy Bee on Saturday. Shelley Arnold a

It would be good if the President named themselves and signed off the message
