Usually the last line of defence and sometimes overlooked, our goalkeepers are a vital part of our teams, often making the difference between winners and losers, between grand finalists and also rans. This season Hale hockey club has been running dedicated goalkeeper training for its junior goalkeepers on Monday nights. Run by WA State U21 keeper Caitlin Barnard and assisted by WA State Country Men’s keeper Jason Vuletich, this coaching has paid dividends, with three club junior keepers selected for their State Teams this year. The skills learned have been on show, with coaches commenting on the ability and quality of junior goalkeeping this season.”
